The Tiger Temple practices a different conservation philosophy than in the west. The temple opens daily for visitors at about 12pm, and the tigers are walked back to their enclosures at around 4pm. Due to the pressing need for income, the temple now charges 500 Baht admission. Day trips are also available from Bangkok. The temple now receives 300 to 600 visitors a day. There are donations boxes in various locations around the temple for those who wish to support the sanctuary.

06:30 AM. Pick-up from various hotels in Bangkok for Kanchanaburi Province.
09:30 AM.Arrive to Kanchanaburi first stop at the World War II cemetery.
10:00 AM. World War II museum & Bridge over the river Kwai to look at surrounding.
11:00 AM.Depart to Lunch at local raft restaurant.
12:00 PM. Have lunch at river rafts restaurant.

Tracey_wayne's travel blog entry: "It has been a few days snce we last made an entry and now we are totally imersed in island life backpacker styles all the way. We caught a flight from bangkok to Trat then boarded a ferry to the island of Koh Chang (elephant island) - a huge sprawling, mountainous, jungle island with monkeys, elephants, mysterious geckos that make very loud noises in the middle of the night - yet to see one in the flesh little (or proabably big!) buggers. Our bungalow place is at the south end of the island away from the main tourist hubbub and party areas, in a fishing village called bang bao. It is awesome - the whole village is set on a pier that has market shops, amazing restuarants on stilts on the water, a little bit like venis with palm trees. Our bungalows are set on a cliff side in the jungle looking over the sea - the view is AMAZING, esp for 300B a night (aprox $15) they are really basic thatch roof huts on stilts with a little deck and hammock and a hard as nails bed with mossy net and fan. All the huts are set far apart at various angles on the hillside or deeper in the jungle, our hut looks over two beaches on each side so we see the sunrise and set. It is a mission navigating the steps getting up to it, especially the other day when there was a huge thunder storm in the morning (v. dramatic and exciting ...
